Release Date: October 16, 2009It is high time Bollywood directors realized that the story, writing and screenplay are the aspects that form Main Aur Mrs Khannathe basis of a good film. ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ suffers from poor writing, which is not only ineffectual, but also inconsistent. It is the story of a couple who is going through financial troubles. The husband goes to another country for work, leaving her wife behind. By the time he comes back to take her, another man enters the picture (though not in the ‘extramarital affair’ sense). What decisions the three individuals take form the rest of the story.
There are many unconvincing episodes in the movie. One of them is the sudden good luck of Mrs Khanna, when she gets a job through a friend’s friend, whom she has just met hours ago. Then, she suddenly moves into a palatial mansion. How she would support it on her nominal salary is anybody’s guess! Then, there seems to be almost no communication between Mr Khanna and Mrs Khanna, who are separated by miles. In the age of internet, this is something that seems to be totally unbelievable.
